Oh, I am so very happy he's doing the promo circuit for this record. A little Jack promo excitement will go a long way during his touring hiatus.

I hope City Lights isn't the track being played live on Fallon, because I don't think it'll be received all that well.

Does that matter?  I'd love for him to play something like that, the unexpected thing, like he used to do on those early WS tv appearances.

Don't pander to the masses and play a song that will be well received, Jack!!!  Make them scratch their heads and wonder about you.

I'd like to see him perform I'm Bound to Pack It Up solo.

Oh man, I'd love to see that, too!  I loved that he brought back You've Got Her In Your Pocket last tour, but I kept thinking about Bound To Pack It Up and how wonderful it would be to hear him perform that live.

I should rephrase that.  I just don't think City Lights is a particularly strong composition, and I hope he plays something better (from his back catalogue), is all.

Well, we'll find out on Friday.  Or I'll find out on Saturday, as usual, since the place I'll be at in Detroit doesn't even have a tv, much less cable.

For what it's worth, I somewhat agree with you about the song. It's definitely b-side material, though when I say that I don't mean that it's mediocre in any way. Jack's b-sides are gems, they're just what he himself described as "orphan" songs. They don't quite fit anywhere. They're often much quirkier than his quirkiest album songs, and this one definitely has its quirks.

Keep in mind, for what it's worth, that As Ugly As I Seem isn't one of my favourite tracks, either.

Oooooooh, that's one of my favorites, but for per personal reasons that don't have anything to do with song composition or quality of writing or anything like that. I can certainly understand it not being everyone's cup of tea. It's another quirky one that just happens to fit where it was put.

The new timeline site they put it on each song contains images of demo cases and notes.

Pretty neat seeing the demo cases and some of the tag notes.

I've just started exploring it, but so far it's great fun. The interface is very cool. And the photo of Meg & Jack under Sugar Never Tasted So Sweet is fucking priceless.

He had done snippets of it during the Blunderbuss tour.

I now need to get a TIDAL account because the 2000 public access TV performance(s) are on there!

so are the songs on this record all old recordings just remixed without the electric instruments?

So, are the remixes on side A essentially remastered versions of the songs from the original recordings?  Or do they sound 'alternate' in any new way?

He really gets into it when he plays Pocket.  His voice sounded well-rested, too.

I would'a liked a little more bounce in Love Is The Truth, but I will never, ever get tired of watching, and feeling, him work himself up during You've Got Her In Your Pocket.

And here's a snippet of his interview-
