There's a preview of the Harry Connick Jr. b-side on TMR's Facebook page, so presumably that'll be posted on the Vault or on the tmr.com store page soon.

Ah, here's a direct link to the b-side-- https://soundcloud.c...light-red-light

i think it's fun and all, nice song choice and all that.  but i'm not as crazy about it as some seem to be.  it might grow on me, though.

who's playing the piano?

Cory's on the piano according to the credits on the back cover.

So weird to see Jack credited with vocals only.

This is a fun b-side. honestly a lot better than something crappy like Blues on Two Trees. Also, yes, the cover art is awesome

Hey, I love Blues on Two Trees!!

Not that you aren't entitled to your opinion, but I do disagree that it's "crappy".  What don't you like about it?

Blues On Two Trees scares the fuck out of me.

That's exactly what I love about it.

Fun is probably the best way to describe Red Light Blue Light.  I can't imagine I'll want to listen to it more than a few times though.  Overall, I haven't liked the B-sides for the Lazaretto singles as much as I did the Blunderbuss B-sides.  I'm with Kali, I really like Blues on Two Trees - but Inaccessible Mystery and Machine Gun Silhouette were the real standouts.  I like those two songs better than half the tracks on the Blunderbuss album.  Of the three Lazaretto B-sides, I've only really liked Parallel.

Not that I'm complaining.  I'm always grateful for new material.  He could just have easily made the Entitlement the B-side.

I like it. I like how it seemed to come out of nowhere. I like how it's different from whatever else he's doing. I like stuff that swings. and I like how he says "tahny closet." and chuckles on "boogieman."

I do like that 3 of the 4 Blunderbuss b-sides were original songs. But Jack has always had a thing for covers, and his choices from Love Is Blindness all the way through these Lazaretto singles have been very interesting so I can't complain about any of 'em.  I will say, though, that for me Inaccessible Mystery is the weakest b-side from either of these albums so far.  It just seems to me like it needed a bit more work.

This work day needs to be over so I can go home and listen to Blue Light Red Light at a proper volume level.

IMO the difference between the b-sides for Blunderbuss & the b-sides for Lazaretto is that most of the Blunderbuss tracks feel like they could've been on the record (only exception is Blues on Two Trees, it's one of my favourite things Jack's ever done but it deff doesn't belong on that album), whereas the Lazaretto tracks feel like they were recorded specifically to be bonus material.

^^ You need to update your signature list  ;)

And speaking of what you mentioned, I need to figure out where to put this new b-side in my Lazaretto mix. I think it's going to be trickier than Power of My Love and Parallel.

Pretty cool b side, his voice sounds shot though. Hard to top MGS and power of my love which have been my favorites so far. Instrumentally this track has a lot of interesting things going on though. I too prefer original songs to covers generally but it is a bside where it belongs. POML and MGS could have easily been on an album. The more music Jack makes the better not complaining too much.

I've been listening at full volume since getting home and, yes, his voice is shot, but to my ears that gives the vocals extra charm.   That final chorus, when he gets rough on the word "alone" and then soft for the last "I know you're there", slays me.  It's like the final few lines of Blue Veins or You Know That I Know.

And I love the hell out of Corey's dueling pianos.

You could almost have an LP of solo Jack non-album stuff at this point.

^ yes, i was thinking the same thing. however, as much as I love the hell out of Love is Blindness, i really don't want to pay for it yet again. #IConquestLikeABuffalo
