Moving on from the inevitable but still very quick diversion into Jack vs Black, I will say that I'm glad Ruby is on this record! Hope a lot of the Blunderbuss musicians stuck around, because by the end of the tour, both bands were sounding fucking fantastic.

More Ruby is exactly what I did not want to hear. I hope she isn't backing up every song. That got old for me, especially live.

Someone may have already posted about this but I'm spastic at the moment, so... Has anyone identified the National Archive image used for the poster?

Okay so what's the bet that High Ball Stepper was composed as the show introduction for the upcoming tour.

Imagine it ramping up in the beginning and segueing into Dead Leaves/Black Math/Freedom At 21 or some other rocker.

NME mentions a couple of other song titles here:

Fuzzing
and buzzing with all the energy of a man who simply cannot quit making
awesome music – he’s now been putting out hits for 15 years – Jack
White’s musical Midas Touch shows little to no signs of fading. Details
on ‘Lazeretto’ are limited so far. ‘High Ball Stepper’ is not the first
official single – that’s the LP’s title track, which will be revealed
later this month. Tracks called ‘Alone In My Home’ and ‘Entitlement’
will also feature on the follow-up to 2012’s ‘Blunderbuss’ and if
they’re half as majestic as today’s release, another monumental album is
evidently about to make everyone’s summer a little bit more massive.

Could Entitlement be another fan spanking?

Yes, that's it!  Crossed my mind to wonder if it was a leper, thank you for the larger image and the link.  So, what's the connection to the album?

Oh my lord above, that would be so perfect.  Please let it be so.

I didn't think fan spanking so much as societal commentary, like Freedom at 21.

Child labor in a Tennessee coal mine.  Have at it, folks, sharper minds than mine need to figure this out.

Haha, according to some posts on my FB, you're apparently not the only one  ;)

What's funny is that when Blunderbuss was announced two years ago, I had no internet that day either because I was at a trade show. Someone texted me about the announcement and I had to follow my bosses around the whole rest of the day and not freak out until I got back to my hotel room that night where I could finally read the news and catch up.  Hilariously fitting that it happened again.

Does anyone else want to believe that Jack is the only person playing on the first single? Are the credits out there yet?

Of course Jack would announce a new album on April Fools Day, haha. I'm loving this new track though, definitely a return to that raw, loud sound that I love about Jack's music (not that I don't like his quieter/folky stuff :P). Can't wait for Lazaretto!

Was anyone else not at all surprised that the album title ended up being Lazaretto?

No he gave it away big time in the vault chat, I don't want ruby backing vocals on every song live either it was too much of a good thing and took away from jack. Not every song needed a pedal steel or fiddle either. Don't get me wrong I loved the past tour but that dead weather "cover" made me cringe every time I heard it. I hope the touring band is smaller with drums, bass, keys, and maybe fatz playing different instruments on some songs. I love Carla in the studio but loved daru's improv live like the fills in hello operator were awesome. I'm willing to bet lazaretto is drastically different of a song than the one we got today. Also is it meant to be a instrumental only song or did they just give us the instrumentals?
