In Topic: Jack working on 3rd solo album

02 August 2017 - 02:15 AM

The woman in the L.A. photo who's not Carla is apparently Esther Rose, who used to perform with Luke Winslow-King. She and Luke opened for Jack's Omaha, NE show on the Blunderbuss tour. And the woman with the bass guitar in the NY photos is apparently Charlotte Kemp Muhl.

I don't know which of the guys are which in which photo, but this is who I've been told some of them are--

- Quincy McCrary
- Alan Evans and Neal Evans from Soulive
- DJ Harrison
- Louis Cato, who played drums and bass on the last Tribe Called Quest album

Charlotte Kemp Muhl is from the GOASTT
Quincy McCrary is keyboardist for Unknown Mortal Orchestra

These are both psychedelic bands which is interesting!

Another name I heard is Justin Poree (LA pic far right)

In Topic: American Epic

02 June 2017 - 05:00 AM

I watched the American Epic Sessions about 1,5 year ago at a film festival screening. I'm really looking forward to watch it again because it's beautiful, the music as well as the filming. I almost forgot about the Elton John part where he asked Jack to participate, because there is so much going on in the whole documentary, it's hard to watch it only once and remember all the great things in it.

I'm waiting for a rainy day to watch the other three parts.

In Topic: Jack on new Tribe Called Quest album

12 November 2016 - 03:05 PM

Any thoughts on the new album? And on the parts Jack plays?

I wonder which parts exactly he plays, the list with credits Pitchfork posted today, doesn't match entirely with the Facebook post on Jack's page:

"A Tribe Called Quest’s new album is out now! Jack White worked on several tracks on the record, contributing and collaborating in many ways, from writing musical parts, to performing bass, guitar, and piano and also co-production. Check out the tracks “Ego,” “The Donald,” and “Solid Wall of Sound," as well as other tracks and surprises"

I can't find any piano nor bass credits in the credits list, but I do hear a lot of parts throughout the entire album that could definitely be him.

Also, the guitar solo at the end of "Lost Somebody" starts at 3:33, so no doubt about that one (but isn't credited either).
