In Topic: Jack on new Tribe Called Quest album

Any thoughts on the new album? And on the parts Jack plays?

I wonder which parts exactly he plays, the list with credits Pitchfork posted today, doesn't match entirely with the Facebook post on Jack's page:

"A Tribe Called Quest’s new album is out now! Jack White worked on several tracks on the record, contributing and collaborating in many ways, from writing musical parts, to performing bass, guitar, and piano and also co-production. Check out the tracks “Ego,” “The Donald,” and “Solid Wall of Sound," as well as other tracks and surprises"

I can't find any piano nor bass credits in the credits list, but I do hear a lot of parts throughout the entire album that could definitely be him.

Also, the guitar solo at the end of "Lost Somebody" starts at 3:33, so no doubt about that one (but isn't credited either).

Used to be only a radio show, but I believe it's now broadcast live on the internet with video.  I sure as hell hope so, because I want to seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it.  I'm going to be visiting family that weekend, need to warn them that I will be disappearing while it's on.

And, ooooooh, Forever For Her would be fantastic. Whatever he does, it's bloody fantastic that he's going to be on that show. It's such a perfect fit. Chris Thile's off to a great start as the new host with this coup.

There will be video:

"Tune in on your local public radio station or watch live(Saturday, 5pm - 7pm Central Time) at prairiehome.org."

Looking forward to this!

He will be on A Prairie Home Companion on Oktober 15. I'm not sure what this is exactly, is it only a radio show? Or will there also be a video stream? How many songs can we expect him to play?

How about Forever For Her (Is Over For Me) behind the piano, that would be cool.

I got a kick out of hearing him do Just One Drink so stripped down, especially when he himself seemed to be enjoying it so much that it got him grinning.  And, as another LRer pointed out elsewhere, that galloping rhythm sounds like he's going to break into Peggy Sue any moment.  To me, it felt very light-hearted.

Good to hear another impression, I guess now that I've heard it a couple of times I'm liking it more.

I'm just disappointed that we still don't have a live performance of "Bound to Pack it Up." I've been hoping for one for 13 years, and now is the perfect time, Jack!

Since he has already done five different songs so far, I guess chances are high :)

What do you all think of his performance on Jools? Although I thought his performance on Jimmy Fallon was great and beautiful, I'm not sure what to think of this one. It feels forced, like he is trying too hard. Especially during Just One Drink, I'm only waiting for more instrument to kick in and it feels to me like he is trying to compensate this in a certain way which doesn't work out too well. Nonetheless it was nice to see him on television!
