yes and yes! A very cool record store owner had put one aside for me since April and I just picked it up. In the meanwhile, I had ordered one from Third Man when they offered them online. so just let me know where to send it!

I got this today for $0.99 at value village. Rachmaninoff no. 2. Eugene (baby eugene - angela's ashes) List, pianist. Not same person. I just like the way frank says eugene.

Here is something. The best thing. I love to pop a 78 on a player and move around the house. To live inside the music. For me THAT is 78 record music. When a huge crackle happened on the Elvis record I literally ran to clean my record BUT the record is pristine. I laughed out loud. Bless little jack white.

a couple of months ago, whilst visiting my favorite record shop, a lady drops off a bunch of records she doesn't want anymore. The shop owner had no intention of selling them, he's giving them away to anyone who wants them. There was several pounds of 78s, also I helped myself to a few.

thank you! ive been a Spike Jones nut forever. I remember bringing a cassette of Spike's musical mayhem into photography class and my jazz-loving professor bursting out laughing when he heard Tennessee Waltz. Just incredible to have him and Fats (yes, yes!) on 78s. If I could find Spike and the City Clickers doing Carmen or Holiday for Strings or Minkha or any number of nutty noodling so would be amazing. Or Fats doing Christopher Columbus or Handful of Keys or...damn, what was the name of that one that went, Hiya baby, how's a bout a little dance...or this Joint is Jumping.

i think that 78s come into my life at least once a week. oh yeah, they must. last week i got these in the mail. some guy on etsy. i love the teeny emory boards to sharpen the cactus needles. ha! and yes, i plan to try them.



the week before that, i swear i was playing a pablo casals 78 for a fan of his.

Funny, we bought the Pokey Lefarge 78- and when we tried to play it on the crank up, the needle just literally sunk right into the wax. I told Pokey about it Radio City and he just cringed....... the old wax was really hard nothing like the new mfg '78s....

Country is cool! I wish I came across more country--most of what I stumble over are pop vocalists.

oh dear! Maybe it's a good thing that I didn't get that or I might have done the same thing! I had heard about that after it was released. The old unbreakable ones were shellac, I think.
