Anybody else in here a huge Calvin and Hobbes fan? I have every single book and have read each one multiple times! Does anyone share my opinion that it's the best comic ever, or anyone care to disagree with me? I'll need some good reasons as to why any other one is better. My two favorite current strips are Get Fuzzy and Ballard Street (if anyone has heard of/ likes Ballard Street you are a god/ goddess).

Sometimes you forget about Calvin and Hobbes because the comic & characters were never licensed for any merchandise.

The beauty of it is that it exists solely as a comic strip.

uh-uh. Bill Watterson did not want Hobbes' identity being solved by a stuffed doll, so he refused, and got in a big fight with his publisher over rights to manufacture merchandise.

Wow, I used to just love C&H. My brother had a bunch of the books, and I'd read them all the time. I always loved it when Calvin played in the snow. Those snowmen were EVIL. HHhmmm...I should put those books on my birthday list, I miss them.

I use to read a lot of Calvin and Hobbes when I was younger. This thread makes me want to dig up the old books I use to have...and I think I will.

Bill Watterson looks suspiciously like Calvin's dad...without the mustache. Don't you think?

Wow, he really does. That's the first time I've seen him in a pciture besides a self-portrait he drew of himself. I'm glad this post has gotten people to break out their old books! It's well worth it!

Mafalda is a little girl, a comic created by an Argentinian man called Quino.

Mafalda is a precocious girl, always concerned about humanity, peace, and human rights. She hates soup (well, 'hate' is too soft a word for it). She's quite a patriot, and she loves the Beatles.

I STRONGLY recommend getting any of the Mafalda comic books. They are simply great.

I know there will probably never be a Calvin and Hobbes film but I enjoyed this spoof trailer for a grittier version anyway:
