We're Going To Be Friends children's book from Third Man Books

19 May 2017 - 03:51 PM

Third Man Books is proud to announce We're Going To Be Friends, a children's picture book based on The White Stripes' acclaimed song of the same name from their platinum-certified album White Blood Cells. Written by Jack White, We're Going To Be Friends is the first book from the twelve-time GRAMMY-winning musician, actor and producer. The book is illustrated by Elinor Blake, who is known for her work as an animator on The Ren and Stimpy Show and Pee Wee's Playhouse, as well as a musician under the name April March. Recordings of the original White Stripes song, along with new versions by April March and The Woodstation Elementary School Singers, will be included with the book as digital downloads. We're Going To Be Friends will be released on November 7, 2017, just a few months after The White Stripes' 20th anniversary as a band (July 14, 2017).

"We're Going to be Friends" is one of The White Stripes' most enduring and loved songs, and the perennial favorite feels right at home on the page as a children's book. This November, children, adults, and you, too, can join Suzy Lee as she goes to school with her books and pens, looks for bugs, shows and tells, and finds a friend.

Too sweet.

Jack on new Tribe Called Quest album

02 November 2016 - 11:25 AM

That photo Chris Rock posted a while back really was a tip-off (no Q-Tip pun intended, really).  Jack and several others are featured on the upcoming Tribe Called Quest album.-- http://www.nytimes.c...d=pl-share&_r=0

When Jack White came to the studio, things fell right into place. “We recorded so many tracks and ideas,” he said. “It’s one of those scenarios where we’re so excited to finally get to work together that it was exploding in a whole different direction. We really didn’t know what we were doing, it was just a ‘hurry up and press record’ kind of moment.” (Q-Tip and Jack White connected when he asked to do an old Tribe song called “Excursions” in his stage show. They learned they were mutual admirers of each other’s work.) Jack White came to the studio without his own gear. “He just took a guitar off the wall and plugged it in and just got his wizard on,” Q-Tip said.
