There is a preorder up for three new reissues coming out for Black Friday Record Store Day this year.
1. TMR-170 Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground 2. Stop Breaking Down (Live At The BBC Studios Maida Vale) Opaque red-colored vinyl, originally released Sept. 2002 as a UK single on XL Recordings.
1. TMR-169 Fell In Love With A Girl 2. I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself Opaque red-colored vinyl, originally released Feb. 2002 as a UK single on XL Recordings.
1. TMR-168 Hotel Yorba (Live At The Hotel Yorba) 2. Rated X (Live At The Hotel Yorba) Opaque red-colored vinyl, originally released Nov. 2001 as a UK single on XL Recordings.
Pretty pumped. The rules are different for Black Friday RSD, where stores can sell them online and allow preorders. You can preorder them now here: http://www.vvinyl.com/, though, I think these will be pretty easy to find come november and more and more stores will be offering preorders.
No concrete proof yet, but there are some heavy rumors that Jack White, along with Beck, Sigur Ros, Smashing Pumpkins and others are headlining Lollpalooza this year. I'll probably eat my words. But this would be amazing.
So with the dozens of singles i've bought near release, i've never gotten a random tri color. i got de stijl on red/white split when i ordered all three the first day. i got 22.214.171.124's split when i ordered on the first day (as did everyone, it seemed). but no luck on tri's.
i know there's no science or anything, but how have those of you who have gotten them had the best luck?
did you order with other items? did you order the day it was available for pre-order? did you order the day they were in stores? logged in, not logged in?
i'm just curious.
since shipping went up, and priority is the only option, when i buy new singles, i usually pick up a couple other things to make it worth it. sometimes this delays shipping a bit. that probably doesn't help my chances.
I think it's about time to start wondering what the twelfth package will consist of.
at this point, i am starting to see a pattern in the LP component, but i might be crazy. i know the 7" and gift is usually a wild card. we're looking at QTR 2.
Quarter 1: Singles Comps (though this will now change next year) Q1 2010 - 2009 Singles Comp 2LP, Dead Weather 7", Postcards Q1 2011 - 2010 Singles Comp 2LP, 126.96.36.199's 7", WS Tri Q1 2012 - 2011 Singles Comp 3LP, WS 7", TMR Shirt
Quarter 2: So far it's been a pretty great WS Double LP, seems too good to happen thrice Q2 2010 - WS B-shows 2LP, Racs 7", DW Shirt Q2 2011 - WS Mississippi 2LP, WS 7", WS DVD Q2 2012 - ????????????????
Quarter 3: Besides the inaugural package (which had to be something different to set the tone), they've been Black & Blue LP's with a DVD Q3 2009 - WS Icky Thump Mono 2LP, DW 7", TMR Shirt Q3 2010 - DW B&B, DW 7", DW DVD Q3 2011 - Wanda B&B, 2*T 7", Wanda DVD
Quarter 4: 2/3 have been live Racs LP's, and if i had to stick a greenhornes LP in a set, it'd be this one, with the obvious overlap of members. (i know, maybe a bit of a stretch). Q4 2009 - Racs London 2LP, WS 7", DW Print Q4 2010 - Greenhornes LP, WS 7", GH/WS Shirt Q4 2011 - Racs B&B LP, Remix 7", Devil's Night DVD
So what are we getting in the next quarter? Will the White Stripes pattern continue? Maybe now that the "Jack White has a solo career" cat is out of the bag, we may see some old Jack White demos or something?
