Davila 666 Live At Third Man Records

16 July 2011 - 01:41 AM

Yesterday I got a record in the mail, the mail lady stuck it in the mail box and I went down there about 45 minutes later in the middle of an incredible heat wave, was 110 with the heat index the last few days, and I swear the record looks more like a boomerang or a U than anything at this point.  Went to the post office and ended up talking to this guy way up in administration as they couldn't figure something out etc etc, I wasn't there to get anyone in trouble so I simply told them - if you see any packages and no one is home I will come into the post office to pick them up.  Today got a slip from a 9AM attempted delivery at like 2 in the afternoon - I don't know if I was the only Little Roomer at the Davila 666 show a couple of months back but it was a totally amazing show.  I had heard most of their latest album Tan Bajo and a few older cuts from a S/T EP along with sporadic singles and liked what I heard.  They totally killed it at the show, it was rushed, but they packed a shit ton of music in their - even though their drummer was napping on the side of the stage before they went on  Had I not had that other record destroyed yesterday and had to go into the post office, not only would my black and blue have been ruined but my roommates as well as they would have sat out in the sun baking for hours and hours
In summation, Third Man is shipping out the Black and Blues so if you were there watch your box

What great Garage/Punk/Psychedelic rock am I not listening to?

06 January 2011 - 12:58 AM

I've been thirsty for some good new music lately and I thought to myself tonight, who better to point out some shit I should be listening to that I'm not than the good folks of the Little Room. I mostly looking for Garage Psychedelic and Punk stuff but if you think it's worth a listen or even along those lines hit me with your best link! :P Always enjoy checking out some new stuff for the new year and kicking some well deserved money down to some smaller artists and what not...

The Pixies Purple Tape releases

11 April 2010 - 11:23 PM

Don't know how many other people here are into the Pixies but I was out at the local record shop the other day and was browsing as I always do.  I saw Trompe le Monde and right behind it was "The Purple Tapes".  I'd never heard of this release before the sleeve didn't say too much.  Just that there were 18 songs recorded as demos for the 1st album and 9 of them were used - these were the other 9 tracks from that session.  Gave it a listen and it is stellar!  Amazing sound quality and great cuts, along with one never before released track which is awesome.  I also found reference that there is a second CD, though no LP, in the series comprising like 22 demos and alternate takes from the next two albums or so.  I got online and started looking around but can't find didly about this release.  I am wondering if it is legitimate or a European bootleg?  No mention of it on Wiki ( http://en.wikipedia....iki/Pixies_(EP) or http://en.wikipedia....ies_discography - however the LP that I have is not pressed by ether of the labels that Wiki says made the discs originally  )  I would love to get some more information about Vol 1 that I have and find out if there is any way to get a hold of the second piece in this series, any help would be appreciated here guys  :D

Having just received the Traveling Wilburys book (signed by Jeff!!!) it seems approperiate to upload (don't know if it's been shared here before) this gem of a bootleg. I picked this one up at the local record fair (Vinylmania platemesse) several years ago. This is by far the best bootleg I've picked up ever! It holds 25 Wilbury tracks as well as one Jeff Lynne solo effort (this being Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler's "Stormy Weahter"). This bootleg also includes the original versions of "Maxine" and "Like a Ship".

George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty and Jim Keltner. Do You need any other?

This is a clean CD transfer. I haven't altered it in any way.
