The version that the Raconteurs did actually most closely resembles the version done by the Move. It can be found on their BBC Sessions. Brendan has covered the Move's Lightning Never Strikes Twice in the past, too.

Really? Gee, I'd love to hear Brendan covering that song. I'm a huge Move fan from way back. I imagine that Brendan got exposed to this in the UK, since the Move aren't all that well known in the US. Though I knew them, and I grew up in Smalltown, Indiana (not the real name of the town....) so you never know.

That was a cool song, "Lightning", written by Rick Price, bass player for the Move for a while after the departure of Ace Kefford. Rick did his own version on his truly horrible album with Mike Sheridan (Roy Wood's former boss, and who's band became The Idle Race) called "This is to certify that...".

Forgive me, I digress... :-)

Yeah, Brendan sang one line of it I think. Not the whole song, or even close to a significant amount. Jack was fiddling around on the organ, which I guess was a cue for Brendan to do his thing. Jack just kicked Dean right off the keys for a while, which was kinda funny, and kinda mean although not that mean because they've said in the past that he's not an actual member of the band. For some reason... ?

OK people, I just spent ages sorting out the first post in the thread, check it out!

It's by no means complete and there may be some inaccuracies, please help me out with them!

enjoy.

(I'm not putting miss judys farm in the list... its not really a cover as such unless of course they do the whole song at a later date)

^ Good work there, TeleTom ;)

"It Ain't Easy" was first played at Glasgow on 21st March 2006 - it seemed to be a spur of the moment addition to the setlist:

They changed the setlist after "Broken Boy Soldiers" it seemed. Jack spoke to Brendan and Lil' Jack and then Brendan said "We're going out on a limb here ..." and launched into a song I didn't know

"Teenage Kicks" was first played at Edinburgh on 23rd August 2006

I've thought about it... some of the best ones though are from officially released tracks (zane rendition from radio 1, broken boy soldiers from KCRW etc) so wouldnt be able to be shared on dime or this board

Last I heard, they only played Miserlou at the video shoot for Level, so I doubt a recording of it will surface. Unless they play it at a show, of course.

not in the sense that tickets were sold for it and it was promoted, but they played a few songs for the crowd that were extras in the video
