is it over ?
they played No Wow, I Hate The Way You Love, The Good Ones and Love is Deserter.

but they were very good. VV got bangs, it's strange because you can now actually see her eyes.

I love The Kills.
They took far too long between releases though.
Their onstage antics make me feel a bit like I do when I watch Jack and Meg.

Ive been listening to the album for a good 2 weeks and I'm having a tough time finding my stance on it. On one hand it is a great concise album - more developed and with a much richer sound that the first. But on the other hand there are havent been any tracks that jump out at me like the first album. I don't want to say there aren't any of the great 'powerful' tracks on this one - but thats sorta the direction I'm headed in.

But I still love the band - I think when I see them live in a couple weeks I'll get a new rejuvination on their stuff.

we have to see in a months time, but if "the good ones" doesn't make the top 20 i'll be surprised.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I'd say it's pretty unlikely. They just don't have the appeal to go particularly far. Not that it bothers me, they're one of my favourite bands.

I managed to bag a promo copy from my friend a couple of weeks ago and I like the new album alot. I still prefer the first but then second albums are never as instant as the debuts, it seems to me anyway. I love No Wow - all the buildup through the song and I love the looped drum machine on it and I Hate The Way You Love (don't like Part II though, just seems a bit pointless). Sometimes I think VV's voice sounds a bit odd on it, it goes from sounding really strong and impressive to just a little bit forced. Preferred for Hotel to do a bit more singing on it but I like the way their voices work together, particularly towards the end of No Wow and on the chorus of Rodeo Town.

I think the album will be a bit of a grower though..... my main regret is not booking friggin' tickets before they sold out in February. The Kills' music makes a lot more sense once you've seen them live I think. Has so much more energy.

I think it's sort of lame they're going by their real names suddenly. Just me?

They don't they still refer to each other as VV and Hotel in interviews i've heard recently...its just everyone knows their real names.

Anyway, i think every song they play from No Wow is just so much more powerful live. I wasn't to impressed with the new album until i saw them perform the songs live. I think you may change your mind Kev, once you have seen the new stuff. It seems the new material only really works without the studios polish.

thats what Im predicting will happen as well. I loved this band the first time i saw them as a small opener so long ago and I might just have high standards for them so I'm just overly critical no matter what they do. But I do think seeing them live will really make the new material seem a bit more powerful and then turn me onto them again. I have a recent live show I still need to listen to from them.
