An old member of the board, Mottey who does the Mottey's Garage music podcast sent me mp3's of this band's latest album, Don't Wake the Riot and they are very good, in my humble opinion.  Has anyone heard this Austin based band?  They remind me quite a bit of our favorite rock n roll duo...

I have their latest album if anyone is interested.

YES!!! I heard about them via someone who saw them open for Gary Clark Jr. They are so good. Have you checked out any of their live videos? If not, I highly recommend that.

Those are great performances! I hope their Governors Ball performance will be live streamed but I doubt it. Their song Hard Luck, at least I think it's that song, is in the new Prius commercials.

They sound great!  Are big enough to be headlining the kinds of places TWS were playing in '02.  Maybe The Metro in Chicago is in my cards...  ?

Hm. Not sure if they are that big yet. I feel that they will be big enough to do that soon. They are playing the House of Blues in a couple different cities, though. Would you put that up there with the Metro? I hope I can see them before they get "too big".

With the Mercy Lounge, Forecastle, and The Metro, they're definately playing to the size of some TWS 01-02 shows.  I'd LOVE to drive up to MN to see them at Triple Rock!  With a few smaller spaces thrown in, too, again, pretty on-point with that TWS era about a year-and-a-half before they really hit it.  I guess they're on their 4th album and have a strong FB following--I'm surprised I haven't heard of them yet, given that I really like what I've heard from the few YT videos I've pulled up.

Yeah I had no idea about them until one of my friends saw them open for Gary. I would love to see them play at the Troubadour in LA (even though it's a pretty small venue). I also just hope they come out west more often haha. I'd be willing to travel to go see them. They are also playing Governor's Ball this weekend, so I'm sure they'll get  bit more of a following after their performance there.

BPF posted on their website a proshot clip of their performance at Governor's Ball. It's about ten minutes long. Good stuff

They kind of fill that raw, White Stripes vibe for me.  A vibe that has sadly been missing since the White Stripes said see ya later...

I figured he'd cite TWS as an influence, but he went with Racs.

See now, I hear the Black Keys more than anything else on that song .

Anyway, I like em. I'll buy their newest lp and if it sticks I'll move backward seeing this is their third.

Thanks for the mention Brian

^agreed.  I hear a good bit of TBK on "Hipster Shakes" especially.  Reminds me of "10 a.m. Automatic" to a good degree. Not that there's anything wrong with that.  :)
