Definitely a great interview. I love that he's talking to fellow musicians for this album promo, it's made for some really candid conversations.

"It's just laser blasters". Oh boy, he's gonna pay for that comment if any SW fanboys get word of this interview.
But, of course, it goes without saying that they're overdoing it with the number of films in that franchise (though I really liked The Last Jedi).

His response does surprise me slightly, though, considering he's such a fan of American culture.

Jack's in the latest issue of Guitar World: https://www.guitarwo...ing-house-reach
Lots of interesting stuff about his gear and the writing process. But this might be my favorite quote--
"’Cause I know my brain isn’t as simplistic as the songs I’ve put out in the past in my life.”"
No surprise there, really

"“‘Seven Nation Army’—that was me trying to write a song without a chorus and still get people’s attention,” White confides."
He's done this on a number of occasions. You could argue that the main melody is the chorus, but it's the same beat as the verses, so...
Anyways, Icky Thump doesn't have a vocal chorus either, nor does Dead Leaves or Lazaretto. And how do you distinguish between a verse and "chorus" in FILWAG, or Freedom at 21, or Blue Orchid? And yet many of these are among his most commercially popular compositions

^^ I was as fascinated watching him fidget as I was by everything he had to say. Wonderful that he brought up Bourdain.

Great article where Jack explains how he goes through a set playing the songs that he does.

Notable that he talks about wishing he could play drums while singing My Doorbell, and then ended up doing just that at recent shows.
“I wish I’d written more slide songs over the years,” he says. <-- It's not too late, Jack!!
