Peter, I love that first one. I don't walk those roads alone.

Due to lack of talent and/or my terrible perfectionism when it comes to my own art, I'm not gonna contribute with more than the winter-though-the-window collage in my signature.

those pictures in your signature are really good

Those are all wonderful!!

I think digital can be just as good as a manual camera if, like with a manual camera, you have tons of money to buy the best equipment! I have seen some amazing digital photography, some manipulated with photoshop, to come up with colors that are rich and deep. A good printer helps too. These were professional grade and of course they have the best equipment.

I envy you all for having been able to take a photography class in school, my friends and I all had used equipment including an enlarger, and just experimented. We had one friend who knew enough to show us how to get started and then we would go on "safaris" and take rolls and rolls of black and white film and then run off to one of our basements where the "darkroom" was set up and see what developed (bad pun! sorry!). One of our trips took us to a cemetery where we took lots of pictures of statuary and headstones then tried different techniques in the darkroom like double exposures and petroleum jelly on a piece of glass on top of the photographic paper. All sorts of fun stuff! I liked going to Windsor and took pictures at the docks and of the train yards. I don't know if I even have any of those left, they might be in a box in the garage.

lafayetteblues: I like how the water hose spray appears to make the outline of a dove or bird?? have you noticed that yourself or did I just partake a little too much this evening??

Frazer: you are very talented and not just with the guitar and drawings that you do, but with photography as well.. I like the subway shot *not just because I think of HBTB* .. but more the way that you've captured slant and motion.

JOEL: thats a breath away from the darker side of never.. and i feel almost dizzy looking at that pic... that is some eye you have my friend, and this may sound corney but " tower of power " is what goes through my mind..

some very good work shown on this thread show more.... Please!!!

EDIT: mindblown had to add comment!!

these are all fantastic photographs. if i had a scanner i'd be able to show you my work. maybe i'll pop over to my friends house oneday and borrow hers. anyway, on the issue of digital vs manual... with digital cameras i've always felt that the pictures turn out to be more of a documentation rather than art. i like photography as art more than just showing what happened on some particualr day. also the work it takes to master not only a 35mm manual but also the dark room seems a lot more fulfilling than using a camera that does all the work for you and upoading them to your computer where you can use some program to fix the little imperfections or fiddle with them. i like the idea of burning in and really using your hands to create something.. i feel more satisfied with that. but others might feel better using digital. it's all up to each individual.

i took these this morning. i was out walking all over for like 2 hours and it was so cold. anyways, i think digital cameras are probably a good way for people such as me to get interested in photography. it's so inexpensive and easy to get into. think that non-digital photography is probably better but digital makes it easier and more accessible for the average person who would probably never be in a dark room anyways, to take lots of pictures and experiment with photography a bit

I sold my camera, because I was in a really bad thing where I had to pay a fine, and I needed the money. If anyone has a nikon n60, or any camera like that, that they are looking to sell, please hit me up
