Thirds. :)

My favourite painting of his is 'Persistance Of Memory.' It's very surreal. B)

I love Mark Ryden. Definitely my favorite by far.
I'm really just into most artists who are crazy and abstract.
Like Dali, Warhol, Picasso, etc.

Out of the artists that you listed, only Picasso's work could really be described as formally and conceptually abstract.

Dali was a surrealist and Warhol pioneered pop art along with Roy Lichtenstein and Jasper Johns.

Well yeah. But anything remotely weird gets thrown into my definition of distract.

Actually, I've been rather unimpressed with Tracey's art. Its not bad, just nothing to write home about.

Whoa! Distract? That sounds awesome! Is that really a style of art or just a typo? I'm assuming it's the latter. It can be the new kitchy trend in art...which is...I don't know? We'll have to come up with something.

my favorites are on a carousel, they go round and around-like the seasons. i especially like the virtuosos- the 'painterly painters' like velazquez, soutine, sargeant, bonnard, hodgkin, titian-all those sexy painters that are in love with paint and the delicious tracks that the loaded brush makes. that's the magic for me -having a vision but with an exquisite command of craft or the visual record of the journey to the sublimated state of "art"-whatever that is.

in that context i prefer even norman rockwell's attack to salvador dali's. he had a greater love of the tactile musical, gourmet dance of the brush. dali, in person, reveals a preoccupation with narrative over application. this is my shallow sensual response but it's the one that lights up my synap-sees.

i am having a love affair with munch this season.
