Pokey La-la-la Farge

18 June 2015 - 01:18 PM

I think Pokey should have a thread here and not 3rd man. This is the place for other music. Pokey is "other" like no other.

I just got 'something in the water' and we knead to talk.

I don't know how many of you may own a 78?!? I suspect not a lot of you dew.

Here is the thing. You may not have to get a turntable that will play those shellac saucers. All you godda do is listen to this St. Louis son.

The new album is beyond good. It is undeniable that he is influenced by every single 78 in his personal collection. AND with such a modern flare! I know he roams around St. Louis ( and I suspect everywhere he goes) looking for 78s. The people at vintage vinyl will tell you, as you are searching a stack of 78s, that "Pokey was here yesterday going through those!"

Good luck finding a treasure now!

Anyway, if you've always wanted to get into 78s but felt it too daunting to start, here is your chance to see what all the hoopla is about. I recommend the new album with all my heart.

Also, just cum in here and talk Pokey. Let's cut the cards for a Pokey?

Former NYPD officer Carl Hickman's life has fallen apart after he was injured on the job; he has become addicted to morphine and is working as a garbage collector at a carnival in the Netherlands. He is recruited to join the International Criminal Court's special crime unit, (a ficitionalised unit). Based in The Hague, it investigates crimes (some serial, others not) that cross international boundaries. The unit includes an anti-mafia covert specialist from Italy, a tech specialist from Germany, a crime analyst from France, and a weapons specialist and tactical expert from Northern Ireland.
