I've come to grow a fondness to her pop performance aesthetic over the years. But she really impressed me with what she did musically with Born This Way, I must have listened to it literally over 100 times. As for her new release, ARTPOP, I can’t help but love the direction of also. From the Bowie-esc vocals in "Applause" to the throbbing synth in "G.U.Y." and "Venus", its pretty reminiscent of early/mid 80’s electro-pop (Pet Shop Boys, Soft Cell, Visage.) The bridge in "Mary Jane Holland" even reminds me of something you’d hear from solo Marc Almond material. I can't stop listening to it. Great step.
I also loved the ARTrave performance from a couple of nights ago.
