Jimi Hendrix ................. 'nuff said

09 July 2012 - 09:44 AM

Ok... in a forum that is supposed to be all about some blues guitar music and not just Lana Del Rey or some mittens that caught on fire (love you Tim) there certainly needs to be a Jimi Hendrix thread that shares his story and his pictures as well as his revolutionary style

if there ever was an innovator and a stylish trend setter then it was Jimi ... so on this Jack White iii birthday i give you a piece of the inspiration straight from the man himself to the people who love him

check this out though... private Jimi Hendrix at Fort Campbell KY in 1962

Just Jack .... thus sayeth the Artist and the Philosopher

28 June 2012 - 06:01 AM

Often times we hear Jack White say things that are uncommon... more often than not Jack White says things that are worth remembering which bear repeating for the sake of posterity. I mean this in the kindest of ways rather than offering any tongue with the cheeky way I say things myself.

In honor of the sensibility of Little Jellybee who suggested this thread, and also, Sunhouse who started a Quotable Quotes thread. Now when we are at a loss for proper things to say, we can call upon the wisdom of someone with a better way of saying that which needs be said....

The suggestion was made by Little Jellybee that the thread not be littered with comments but only be quotes... talk amongst yourselves on the PM about this if you like... but let the celebration of Mr. White's birthday in a few short days begin here with this thread ... to honor the honor he brings us!!!

I am christening this thread with my own choice quote that i really should be taking to heart more closely...

"Technology is a big destroyer of emotion and truth. Auto-tuning doesn’t do anything for creativity...it doesn’t make you a more creative person. That’s the disease we have to fight in any creative field: ease of use.”

Im sorry but I cannot tell you the interview or association of location as context for the quote... if someone has it or knows it and wants to repost the quote within its context then i thank you for that in advance.

Jack White's Own Brand of Feminism

01 June 2012 - 12:21 PM

Ok... its pretty clear that everyone has their own view of Jack White and his professional opinions which relate to feminism and the female persuasion.  If anyone can set it straight I would think that it would be Jack White's fans themselves.  Jack has done everything in his power to just be a simple man in a complicated world when it comes to authenticity and genuine respects for the individuals with whom he has come in contact with over the years.  Why should anyone think anything different?  maybe people have good reasons for their opinions...so far i dont get it....

We all know 'ten thousand' things that have been said and also have provided a vast ocean of links over the years to let others know what we think and feel as fans.  Anyone can bring anything to this thread and mull it over or just bring links of the women artists who have been given their moment due to TMR support.

Here is a great article that not only 'defends Jack's brand of honest feminist theory' ... it also outlines a few more ways of seeing the entire discussion on this very specific subject now that we live in the 21st century where human rights in and of itself are the premium of social expression when it comes to money on the barrel.  http://www.slate.com..._button_toolbar

Say what you like but i really started this thread so everyone can have their say and put their perspective out there on the women in Jacks portfolio on his way to building what is being called a benevolent empire.  Not sure why but my dad loves that phrase 'benevolent empire' and seems to be open to feminist values in social process as well... but what is an empire if everyone is not equal anyway??

Raconteurs Songs for Fans on the Jack White Solo Tour

28 May 2012 - 08:10 AM

We already hear a lot of Steady As She Goes and Top Yourself on this new Jack White Solo Tour but there are a few other songs that people are catching and enjoying as well as a few we really want to hear and havent heard yet.... Share your ideas and videos here so we can all check it out

i personally would love to hear this one and its been said that he may have played this at one show

i think 'These Stones Will Shout' would be a perfect compliment for Jack to bring to the Peacocks set as long as the stones that jack are referring to are not his gonadic stones... then it might be awkward... :P

Robert Moog: the Man and the Mythical Magician

23 May 2012 - 10:44 PM

Today is Robert Moog's 78th Birthday and it seemed like a good time to celebrate some of our favorite technologies with their inventor... share as you like... ask questions and enjoy what we are dropping in as pure experimentation!  Thanks Google... it was fun!
